#CAVES NEAR SARLAT FULL#
We were there for over 4 hours and didn’t even manage to see the educational demonstrations or activities available. The Black Perigord is full of caves, chasms, deposits and other prehistoric sites. We made sure we didn’t miss the end of the track but didn’t work on the last corridor and we were moved on with 3 minutes left which covered the modern remaking of the caves. Was aware of reviews and person handing out audio guides made sure we kept up with guide to start off the automatic tracks promptly in each section. Lascaux IV and The Art of the Caves in Sarlat. Signs on the counter showed that they’d been there so not sure if they were still available in the kitchen but as it was only 12.55 at this point it seemed early to not have the full menu visible? I got the last leek quiche and then lots of ham or bacon with cheese paninis. Lunch was a bit of a bust because the queue for the restaurant moved so slowly so we gave up and did the sandwich bar which had very little choice and especially no paninis out for vegetarians. The Rouffignac cave was already mentioned. Museum was great and the interactive information touch screens were informative and available in multiple languages. Finally, end the tour with the visit of Rouffignac Cave that possesses original and authentic etchings and drawings. The animal animation installation was incredible (think immersive art experiences in a single room of projections and music). We then had to queue to rebook for a later time and thankfully got a slot at 1.15, knowing it would be the latest before we drove on to our next destination. Its exactly what a medieval castle should be, complete with a ghostly legend. The tickets are for the cave tour and the WHOLE SITE MUST BE ENTERED AT LEAST 30 mins BEFORE YOUR BOOKED TIME.
